Where Can This Qualification Take You?

This demolition course equips participants with the essential skills and knowledge needed to safely plan and carry out basic demolition activities, in compliance with Western Australian Regulations and Australian Standards.

It is designed for individuals working as basic demolition operatives under the guidance of experienced site supervisors and demolition professionals.

Prerequisites & Course Requirements

Prerequisite Unit:

  • CPCCWHS2001 Apply WHS requirements, policies and procedures in the construction industry
  • CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry (or equivalent)

Additionally:

  • Persons must be 18 years of age or older
  • Photo ID must be presented i.e. current drivers licence or passport
  • Basic numeracy skills.
  • USI Number
  • Basic English language and literacy
  • Appropriate clothing (Hi Vis shirt, long pants, with steel cap boots)

How Is the Course Delivered?

The CPCCCM2009 course is delivered through face-to-face training, on site at your preferred suitable location, ensuring you gain hands-on experience in a controlled environment.

The course is designed to be completed in up to one (1) day, giving you a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical applications.

What Will You Learn?

  • Plan and prepare for basic demolition: Read and interpret site demolition plan and plan sequence of work. Plan all work to comply with laws and regulations, the National Construction Code (NCC), Australian Standards, work health and safety (WHS) and environmental requirements, workplace requirements, drawings and specifications. Select and use personal protective equipment (PPE) for each part of the task. Select tools and equipment, check for serviceability and report any faults.
  • Prepare demolition site and erect safety equipment: Inspect work site to assess hazards and determine risk controls. Confirm with supervisor or regulatory authorities that existing services have been disconnected. Install signs and barriers around the demolition site and to identify underground and above-ground services. Identify and report hazardous material for separate demolition and handling.
  • Remove building components: Remove building components in sequence and in accordance with site demolition plan, demolition method statement, standards and workplace procedures. Remove components to storage or disposal area using safe materials handling techniques.
  • Check and store tools and equipment: Clean up, meeting all legislative and workplace requirements for safety, waste disposal and materials handling. Check, maintain and store tools and equipment and report any faults

Course Structure and Assessment

Students will be assessed through a combination of practical demonstrations, scenario-based assessments, and written or verbal questioning.

This comprehensive assessment process ensures you are fully competent in all aspects of basic demolition before being awarded your qualification.

 

Note: This is a nationally recognised unit of competency which does not expire, however the industry recommendation is to complete a refresher course every 3 years.

Licensing and Certification

Upon successful completion of this unit, you will receive a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment for:

CPCCCM2009 – Carry out basic demolition.

The CPCCCM2009 course is available for $500

Certificates are issued by Halo Nation Training after all documentation has been submitted and course fees paid.

Halo Nation Training issue your certificate upon successful completion of your course, typically within 7-10 business days.
