Course Overview

EWP Under 11m Course. 

To operate an Elevated Work Platform under 11 metres and scissor lifts, you must complete this required course.

The EWPA Operator Ticket (Yellow Card) is a registered ticket that certifies operators who have successfully trained in the safe use and operation of various types of EWPs that do not require a WorkSafe License, such as boom lifts (BL) and scissor lifts (SL).

Where Can This Qualification Take You?

This course is designed to give participants the knowledge and skills to operate Elevated Work Platform under 11 metres and scissor lifts which are not classified as requiring a high risk work (HRW) licence.

Prerequisites & Course Requirements

  • Persons must be 15 years of age or older
  • Photo ID must be presented i.e. current drivers licence, passport or proof of age card.
  • Basic numeracy skills.
  • Basic English language and literacy
  • USI Number
  • Appropriate clothing (Hi Vis shirt, long pants, with steel cap boots)

How Is the Course Delivered?

The RIIHAN301E course is delivered through face-to-face training, on site at your preferred suitable location, ensuring you gain hands-on experience in a controlled environment.

The course is designed to be completed in up to six (6) hrs, giving you a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical applications.

What Will You Learn?

  • Plan and prepare for operating an elevating work platform: Access, interpret and apply elevating work platforms documentation for allocated job and ensure work activity is compliant. Obtain, interpret, clarify and confirm work requirements. Confirm hazards, environmental issues, and risks, and implement required control measures. Select and wear personal protective equipment. Obtain and interpret emergency procedures. Coordinate and communicate planned activities with others at the site.
  • Operate elevating work platform in line with established requirements to complete work activity: Carry out pre-start and post-start inspections. Identify faults or defects and report. Apply site specific requirements for relocating the elevating work platform to work site. Stabilise or position elevating work platform according to work site conditions and requirements. Ensure work site is clear of personnel and other potential hazards. Place any tools and equipment required to perform work activity into bucket. Operate elevating work platform within performance capabilities of brand and model. Use manufacturer approved safety devices fitted to the machine. Respond accordingly to monitoring systems and alarms. Monitor hazards and risks and ensure safety of self, other personnel, plant and equipment. Complete work activity and shut-down equipment.
  • Conduct housekeeping activities: Clear work area and dispose, reuse or recycle materials. Move the elevating work platform to a safe space. Check, clean, maintain and store elevating work platform, tools and equipment. Complete and file documentation.

Course Structure and Assessment

Students will be assessed through a combination of practical demonstrations, scenario-based assessments, and written or verbal questioning.

This comprehensive assessment process ensures you are fully competent in all aspects of scissor lift and EWP under 11m before being awarded your qualification.

Licensing and Certification

Upon successful completion of this unit, you will receive a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment for:

RIIHAN301E – Operate an elevating work platform.

The RIIHAN301E – Operate an elevating work platform course is available for $280

Please note:

High Risk Training Academy (HRTA), deliver and assess this course under a third-party agreement with AOTA RTO #91463.

Certificates are issued by AOTA Training after all documentation has been submitted and course fees paid.

AOTA issue your certificate upon successful completion of your course, typically within 7-10 business days.
