Mounted on a vehicle, the crane is primarily used for loading and unloading that vehicle. The training also covers load estimation and slinging techniques to move a load for licensing purposes.

How Is the Course Delivered?

The TLILIC0024 course is delivered through face-to-face training, on site at your preferred suitable location, ensuring you gain hands-on experience in a controlled environment.

The course is designed to be completed in up to four (4) days, giving you a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical applications.

What Will You Learn?

  • Planning the Task: Confirm task requirements. Confirm surface condition for ground suitability for operational use of Vehicle loading crane. Vehicle Loading crane capacity and lifting gear are established for the load and work requirements. Appropriate assessment of the path for operating the vehicle loading crane and moving and placing loads are assessed. Relevant hazards are identified with risk controls. Traffic management plans are implemented. Appropriate communications are tested and confirmed. All tasks and information are confirmed in accordance to work plan. Information required to ensure that lifting equipment and gear inspection, use, maintenance is obtained.
  • Prepare for work/task: Consultation with workplace personnel is established and maintained to ensure lift plan is clear. Verify risk controls for hazards. Carry out pre start checks and report any defects. Vehicle loading crane is set up correctly with any lifting gear in accordance with lift plan. Boom/jib and lifting gear are set up, as required. Vehicle loading crane is stabilised appropriately in accordance with the lift plan. Conduct Operational Checks and report and defects. Vehicle Loading Crane logbook is checked to confirm current compliance. Weather and work environment conditions are assessed to determine any impact on mobile crane operations. Weight of load is identified, calculated or estimated.Derated WLL of lifting equipment resulting from selected slinging techniques is calculated. Suitable lifting points and slinging techniques are identified. Lifting equipment and gear are prepared for safe use. Load destination is confirmed.
  • Perform work/task: Lifts are determined within the Rated Capacity of the Vehicle loading crane. Boom/jib and hook block are safely positioned over the load following directions. Lifting equipment and gear, where required, are connected to the load and used safely. Test lift is carried out. Loads are transferred using relevant crane movements and tag lines. Load and crane movement is monitored constantly. All communication signals are followed. Load is lowered and landed safely. Lifting gear is disconnected from load and crane is positioned safely. Lifting equipment and gear are inspected for defects.
  • Pack Up: Crane boom/jib, lifting gear and associated equipment are stowed and secured. Relevant motion locks and brakes are applied. Stabilisers are stowed and secured. Crane is shut down and secured to prevent unauthorised access. Plates or packing are stowed and secured. Shutdown crane checks are carried out.

Course Structure and Assessment

Students will be assessed through a combination of practical demonstrations, scenario-based assessments, and written or verbal questioning.

This comprehensive assessment process ensures you are fully competent in all aspects of operating a Vehicle loading crane (CV) before being awarded your qualification.

Licensing and Certification

Upon successful completion of this unit, you will receive a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment for:

The TLILIC0024 course is available for $1,300

  • The course fee covers both the Worksafe application fee and the HRTA administration fee.
  • HRTA will handle the Worksafe application process for you.

High Risk Training Academy (HRTA), deliver and assess this course under a third-party agreement with Harness Training RTO #40521.

Certificates are issued by Harness Training after all documentation has been submitted and course fees paid. Harness issue your certificate upon successful completion of your course, typically within 7-10 days.
